"Meeting Gabriel"

I've had one or two moments in my life where I thought I was about to meet Gabriel! I think about angels even more these days as I'm getting older and not kicking the bad habits! - I don't fear that moment but I do wonder how fanastic it will be...

..in my head I have two rules for angels, they either have to be so beautiful that they could have only come from heaven or so terrifying that just a look would wound you. As you know me by now - I chose to paint the beautiful option...

Briefly back to Angels - as far as I know nearly all angels in heaven are male - Gabriel is one exception she is an archangel and one of the two highest ranking angels, amongst other things, she grants wisdom in interpreting our dreams and visions...

..I believe she looked after me painting this!

As a parting shot - my work is never as simple as the superficial and I do like to draw you, dear viewer, into them - is it you meeting Gabriel or is the girl in the painting about to?
